Learning math... already?!

Alex is learning how to add by using his fingers for counting.  Yesterday he asked me what 3+3 was and I told him to put out three fingers on one hand and another three on the other.  He then counted them and said 3+3=6.  Wow.

He has been doing this for a few weeks.  It just amazes me.  Without counting his fingers he knows what 5+5 is and 4+4.  He's such a smarty pants.  He is going to be very good at math like his daddy.

Mother's Day

I had a very nice Mother's Day.  Very different from last year when I was up all night with Alex who was throwing up.

We didn't do a whole lot, but it was perfect.  Attempted some family photos.  Had lunch at Olive Garden.  Took a nap.  Spent the rest of the afternoon and evening outside.  The kids even got to stay up until 8 last night!

Alex and I were at Wal Mart on Friday and found some beautiful roses.  I was telling him the color that I really liked.  Him and daddy went back to Wal Mart Saturday evening and Alex picked out the exact ones!  It was too cute.  He was so excited Sunday morning to give me my gift.  Billy and the kids still had to get my gift together so I pretended to sleep while they were in the kitchen preparing.  Billy was making a lot of noise with tissue paper and plastic bags and Alex told him he needed to be quiet because mom was sleeping.  I could hear everything going on and I just wanted to burst out laughing.  Something I will never forget.

Once they were finished they came in to "wake" me up and give me my gift and cards.  I loved the cards and Alex even wrote his name on his (as best as he can).  I received some chocolates (which the kids wanted me to share right away), a new GPS (because this mom has no sense of direction), and a mom picture frame.  Loved it all.

I love my family and I am so grateful for such a wonderful day!

Milwaukee Zoo

Ever since I took the kids to the zoo here in Green Bay we have been talking about going to the Milwaukee zoo.  Today was the day.  Alex was super pumped about going.  It's so fun to see how into it he is now.  He loves checking out all of the animals.

Rhoslyn was not having anything to do with the stroller.  She also refused to hold onto our hand most of the time.  (This is when mom suggests that maybe we should buy one of those harnesses that they make for children... eek)

Notice in the photos how grumpy she looks... she really did have fun though.

The kids weren't to sure about the train ride.  Alex found the whistle too loud and Rhoslyn just had a worried look on her face.  We only went on once.

Next time you talk to Alex make sure you ask him about the elephants.  Pretty much the funniest part of our day!!  (We were able to witness one poop and pee)

The kids thought the fish area was by far the coolest.  Alex couldn't get over how large the fish were.  He was a bit disapointed that there weren't as many sea creatures.

Overall we had such a nice day!

One, Two, Three....

DROP STICKS!

Yesterday I took the kids to a great park near our home.  We walked around and looked for a bunch of sticks to drop off the bridge and into the water.  Rhoslyn kept trying to put them over the ledge but failed because she wasn't tall enough.  Alex put them through the railings.  We watched the sticks float away in the water.

We also played at the very cool playground (that was until a bus of kids showed up and took over). Haha!

After this park we went to another park.  Yep, two parks in one morning!

What the kids have been up to...

Rhoslyn has been practicing being a mom and playing with her favorite baby!

Alex is working on learning how to ride his new bike!  Pedaling takes a lot of practice!

Alex is working on drawing trucks!  Daddy drew the top monster truck and Alex's is on the bottom.  Pretty good huh?

We are doing lots of coloring.  This is one of Rhoslyn's favorite things to do right now.

Driving vehicles (bikes, jeep, etc.)

Learning how to be a little Diva!  She's just too cute if you ask me!

Trying to figure out how to jump rope.

And... looking more and more like his daddy every day!  Hat on backwards and his shades on.

Family trip gone bad...

Billy had one of those weeks at work and we really wanted to take the kids somewhere fun.  Around 5 last night we decided we would take them to the dells and stay in a hotel with a small indoor water park.

It was mass chaos trying to get everything ready at last minute, but everyone was super excited!

We started driving and had to stop two times before we even made it to Appleton for Alex to go to the bathroom.  He was complaining his stomach hurt, but we figured he just ate too much..... boy were we wrong!

He fell asleep for awhile and right when we were about halfway there he woke up and started crying for us to stop.  As soon as I got him out of the car he was throwing up and had diarhea.  Poor little guy.  We got him cleaned up and though we would just keep going.  We didn't even drive for 5 minutes before we had to pull over on the side of the road to clean him up again.  This time putting one of Rhoslyn's diapers on him (we had already thrown away 3 pairs of underwear because he couldn't hold it in).  He was shaking with the chills and we decided it would be best for us to drive home.

He is feeling better today and of course was ready to go to the hotel, but mom and dad decided it would be best to just cancel.  Let's hope no one else gets sick in the family!

Pacifier Free

Rhoslyn has gone without her nuk since Tuesday!  Such an accomplishment for her.  She still gets upset when it is time to lay down and we don't give it to her... but she goes to sleep soon after.  We are very proud of her.  It's kind of nice not constantly worrying where they are so she has it for bed time and nap time.

I am sure she would take it back in a heart beat, but we are keeping strong!
