Bedtime struggles

Oh Rhoslyn....

Every single day I lay you down for a nap.  Every single day I need to go in your room at least once to tell you to go to sleep.  Every single day you sit in your room playing on your bed with all of your stuffed animals or grabbing things off of your dresser or shelves.  (ex. piggy bank.. which is now in her closet!)

But today...

I heard you crying.  So, mom went into your room and there you were....

On top of your dresser!

You were crying because you couldn't figure out how to get back onto your bed.

Please, please, just close your eyes and go to sleep.

Happy 2nd Birthday Rhoslyn!

We officially have a 2 year old little girl on our hands!  Oh.. she is definately two!

Today Alex and I took her to the mall to play and make a bear and build a bear.  Then we all went to Chili's for lunch.  Rhoslyn enjoyed dipping her fork into her ranch (yep, she is my daughter) and eating it.  She tried drinking it too, but mom stopped that one.

When daddy got home we had dinner, cupcakes, and opened presents!  We kind of started a tradition in our house of letting the kids go to the store and pick out cupcakes or a cake.  Then when it's their party they get a cool cake!  Rhoslyn enjoyed everyone singing to her and enjoyed eating her cupcake even more!  She even blew out the candle on her own.

Alex needed to help her open her presents, she really just wanted to see what was in them and didn't care about opening them.  She was super excited to see her Minnie set.

A little bit about Rhoslyn at two:

1. She loves Minnie Mouse, Dora, and Hello Kitty (she says Kitty Hello).
2. She is starting to wear 3T clothes.
3. She talks A LOT! (5-7 word sentences)
4. She loves to look at books, but she doesn't have the patience to sit and read books.
5. She now screams at the top of her lungs when she gets mad, annoyed, or doesn't get her way.
6.  She HATES bugs.  She will cry and scream if there is a fly by her.
7.  She likes strawberry milk.
8. Her favorite fruit is berries (especially blueberries).

Happy Birthday Princess!!

Wow... it's been awhile!

I just realized I have not done a blog in a few weeks.  I guess summer has caught up to us!

First off, I cannot believe that our baby girl is two next Tuesday.  It seems like yesterday when we brought her home and Alex was sharing his taggies with her.  Now Rhoslyn takes toys away from him and I instantly hear, "Mom, I was playing with that!"  Oh the joys of having siblings!  However, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!  Billy often says to me, "I don't know how you do it."  "How do you stay home with them all day long, how do you talk on the phone with them in the background."  My reply... I'm just used to it!  Sure there are times when I feel like banging my head against the wall, but I really do enjoy being home with them.  Sometimes I feel like they don't appreciate it and it gets frustrating, but I know one day they will look back and be thankful that their mom could spend so much time with them.

At least I hope... Haha!

This and That...

Alright, this is going to be a bit of a weird blog.

Pretty much just some miscellaneous stuff that is going on over here...

Here we go.

Alex's favorite line this week is, "that's not fair."  God help us!  We officially have a four year old on our hands.  Not to mention he hates losing.  The crazy part is that we have always emphasized that it's about having fun, not winning.  I continue to say this at least once daily. I don't know...

Rhoslyn can be heard in the back of the car trying to sing to the music on the radio.  It's adorable listening to her try to sing to the music.  Umm she is also way too much like her mom.  Tonight at dinner she was freaking out because there was a fly in the kitchen.  Billy had to kill it in the middle of dinner just to reassure her that it wasn't going to hurt her.  She then watched as he put in the garbage and for the rest of the night she said, "fly all gone."

Rhoslyn also likes to act like she can't hear what we are saying.  Eventually after we have said it a million times she will do what she is told.  Or maybe it's because we then threaten a time out.  I don't know.  Yesterday she even crossed her arms around her and pouted.

Lets not forget that she likes to hit when she is mad.  This morning she went on two time outs back to back before we even sat down for breakfast.  She was mad because I wouldn't let her in the pantry.

Alex continues to be obsessed with angry birds.  He also thinks that because he loves them so much, he should get EVERYTHING that has to do with angry birds.  We started a new system for saving his money.  One jar is for saving to put in the bank.  The other jar is money he can spend.  The downfall with this system... he wants to spend any money he gets in his spending jar.  Currently the balance is zero!  We are working on teaching him that if he saves a bit more money in there, it will allow him to purchase things that are more expensive.

As for Billy and I... we are just hanging in there and dealing with everyday challenges that come our way.  We will know more hopefully by the end of this week about Iowa.  We thought it was a for sure thing, but now we are not so sure.  Our answers will come soon enough.  In the meantime Billy is still looking for a better opportunity for himself.  Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.

We can't believe how fast this summer is going.  We had big plans to go camping and now I am not sure if that will happen.  It seems like every weekend is already planned.  Goal for next summer: Camping!

I scream...

You Scream!

We all scream for ICE CREAM!

What better way to celebrate summer then eating an ice cream cone!

Last day of T-ball

I'm a little behind...

Last Wednesday was Alex's last game of t-ball.  He enjoyed it and I am pretty sure we will be signing him up next summer.

The two teams got together to play one last game (lots and lots of little kids).  After their game they seperated into their teams and recieved a ribbon from the coaches while giving high fives.

One of the parents brought enough baseball cupcakes for all of the kids to each have one.  It was the perfect ending to a great t-ball season.

Daddy and I are going to miss those Wednesday evening games...

Alex hitting the ball off the T.

Running to first base!  It was SO HOT out that once he was half way there he started slowing down.

Saying good bye to the coaches and getting his ribbon.

Ribbon for doing such a good job!

One last team huddle and chear!  "Go T-ball!"

And of course I had to throw one of sister watching the game with her messy hair!
