Grandparents Day at school

Grandma Jackie and Grandma Lori visited Alex at school Friday for Grandparents Day.

He sure loved having them there.  They had lunch together, did a craft, the kids sang songs, and they also got a tour of the classroom.

Thank you Grandma's for coming and sharing such a special day with him!

Alex says the darndest things...

Yesterday Grandma Lori took Alex on his swimming field trip for school.  In the car Alex told her he wanted to be a Chef when he gets older.  My mom asked him what restaurant he would like to work in and Alex said, "Taco Bell."  It's so funny because he has probably had Taco Bell twice!

Today he is starting a cold and didn't want to eat much when it was lunch time.  About an hour or so later he was hungry.  I told him he could go upstairs and make himself a sandwich.  So he went upstairs to make himself a peanut butter and honey sandwich and he made me a peanut butter peanut butter sandwich.  In case you don't know what that is... it's peanut butter on each piece of bread (Alex's words).  He was so cute about it when he came back down with the sandwiches.  "Mmm my sandwich is really good!  How is your sandwich mom?"

Then he asked this....

"Mom, did you sit on one side and dad sit on the other and eat the noodle until you kissed?"

I just smiled. =)

Crazy Kids!

Our kids are so funny sometimes!  Last night we were downstairs playing with the kiddo's.  Rhoslyn went off to do something and I asked Billy where she went.  He got up to look and found her by the front door with Alex's hat on, his Yoda slippers, and his jacket on (upside down).  It was too funny and definitely a camera moment!  Then Alex went up and decided he wanted to dress like Rhoslyn and put on her jacket and Dora slippers.

This week I have been working on potty training Rhoslyn.  It has been a total nightmare!  In three days she has only gotten two stickers on her chart.  To clarify that, she gets a sticker for each time she pee's or poops on the potty.  If she fills her chart (five total), she gets a LaLa Loopsy Doll.  I thought getting her something she really wanted would help motivate her to try (this method worked great with Alex). Here is the problem... she is holding her pee.  Today she was dry from about 7:15-4:15.  That is not good.  I put her on the potty a million times (with her pretty much yelling no at me and giving me attitude).  She will sit for half an hour and not go.  At one point I gave up and put a diaper on her around 4:00 this afternoon and what does she do 10 minutes later... stands and pee's in her diaper.  At least she finally pee'd, but then she wanted the diaper off because it had pee in it.

I'm not sure that she will be wearing underwear all day tomorrow.  I am exhausted mentally from the last three days and I feel like we aren't getting anywhere.  Oh yes, and the other day I let her wear underwear for naptime (because she insisted).  She never took a nap so I went into her room and found her underwear on the floor full of poop and she put a new pair of undies on.  Maybe we will give it another month and try again...

Billy turns 30!

I am a few months behind, but Billy turned the big 30 in January!

Alex requested an Angry Bird cake for dad, and dad didn't care as long as it was mom's chocolate cake!

Alex made dad a purple paper air plane (well mom made it, but he colored it).  We even had to put it in a gift bag for him.  The kids enjoyed making cards and Alex helped me wrap presents.  I decorated the cake with a cheap angry bird set off of ebay (long story..).

The kids were anxious for him to get home and see his surprises!

We celebrated by opening gifts, eating cake, and having dinner.

Alex wrote the card all by himself!  I just wrote down the words for him to copy onto the card.  He was super proud of himself.  The kids and I picked out a new fishing rod and some fishing stuff.

We sure love him!!

Hi-Ho Cherrio

Rhoslyn is learning how to play Hi-Ho Cherrio and it's currently her favorite game!  Alex does a really great job at helping teach her when I am unable to play.  He sure is a great big brother!

We had Alex's first parent teacher conference last week and he is doing really well at school.  He is participating more during group time which is awesome.  When he first started he would either sit or stand with his head held down.  He knows almost all of his letters and he can even count to 100!

We can't believe he is heading to kindergarten next year!

Playing in the sink!

The kids had fun playing in the bathroom sink this morning.  Don't you just love that Rhoslyn doesn't have a shirt on?  It got soaked and we decided to go topless instead of drenching a million shirts.

Rhoslyn is obsessed with washing her hands and playing with water in the sink.  She just LOVES letting the water run for five minutes while she is scrubbing her hands with soap.  We are constantly telling her she needs to finish up and turn the water off.  She is becoming so independent.  She doesn't want us wiping her hands anymore.

I also noticed tonight that she is finally cutting one of her two year molars.  That might explain her behavior lately... but I won't go there.

Pretty good picture since I faced the camera towards the mirror. =)

I had to add this photo.  One of Rhoslyn's doll house dolls in Alex's star wars  toy.  She has quite the imagination!

Tomorrow marks Day 1 of Billy and I doing weight watchers.  We plan to document our progress on here to help us stay motivated.  Even though things have been stressful and we are stressful eaters we are hoping to stick with it and shed some pounds!

Helping Mom in the kitchen

Today I had two big helpers in the kitchen!

This morning Alex helped me put the dishes away, wiped down the counter, chairs, table, and he even helped me clean the cat box.

Later on the kids helped me make a Pistachio Pie.  Alex helped pour the milk and stirred for a bit.  Then it was Rhoslyn's turn to stir the pudding.

I sure love having my helpers!
